Upcoming Basket Classes

from GH Productions for 2003

Dear Friends,

Please join us at one or more of our basket classes in 2003. Choose a one day reed basket class, a weekend basket class or a challenging one week white oak basket class. Whatever you choose, you will have a fun and rewarding time.

Basket classes are a great way to learn to make new baskets, learn new techniques and have fun visiting with other basket makers.

Registration: Class sizes are limited so register early, bring a friend and come join us.

Unless otherwise noted please bring to class: Container for water, spray bottle and towel. We provide tools for you to use during class but you may want to bring along your favorites as well.

Many classes are held at the GH Productions classroom, 3069 Plum Ridge Rd., Scottsville, KY, 42164. See the descriptions below for fees and locations. Call us if you have any questions, 270-237-4821 (local) or Toll Free 1-800-447-7008. We look forward to seeing you.

My Best,

Baskets

White Oak Basketry Class--Beginning with the tree, students will learn to identify white oak, split, carve and scrape the oak into materials needed for handle, rims, stakes and weavers. This intense 3-day workshop is a wonderful introduction to white oak, a traditional Appalachian basketry material. Choose a White Oak Berry Basket or a White Oak Egg Basket. After you register for the class, Historic Rugby will send you a list of tools to bring.

Remember - working with white oak is mildly strenuous. Students should have reasonably good hand strength.
