This exhibit catalog is a must-have for basket makers and collectors. From black ash and pine needles to found objects, ribbon, copper and plaster, the 46 baskets in this exhibit will inspire and delight your senses.
As curator Jo Stealey tells us in the catalog's introduction, "Basketry is celebrated for its traditions as well as its inventiveness. . . We experience basketry materials, techniques and concepts in just about any material from plant fibers to the manmade. Inspiration for basketry runs the same gamut as all art: nature, life experiences, formal issues, spirituality, politics, the materials and techniques themselves...."
All Things Considered VII was sponsored by the National Basketry Organization in 2013 and hosted by Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts.
Every other year, in conjunction with the national conference, NBO sponsors a juried and invitational exhibition, All Things Considered. A catalog is published for each exhibition, leaving a historical record of the work being done. This is the catalog for the 2013 exhibition.
