Nantucket Lightship Basket Molds - with Rim Molds

With these beautifully shaped and proportioned hardwood molds you can make a nesting set of Nantucket Lightship Baskets. Molds are sanded glossy-smooth and coated with several applications of tung oil to provide years of service. Molds are equipped with a brass insert and screw (used to attach the bottom to the mold). The Rim Mold (included with each mold) makes it easy to have round rims every time. Bottoms sold separately.
If you prefer, you may rent any size Mold -- Rental period is one month. You must provide a credit card number in order to rent a mold.

Nantucket Lightship Basket Bottoms

Each smoothly-finished Bottom is hand turned of Solid Cherry to fit our molds. (A 3" bottom fits onto a 3" mold, etc.) Cherry plug included.

Nantucket Lightship Basket Handles (Slotted)

Slotted Nantucket Lightship Basket Handles are styled like those on 19th century baskets made aboard the South Shoal Lightship. The slot in each end of the handle accepts a brass ear for attaching this bail-style handle to your basket. (You need 1 set of Brass Ears and 2 Copper Rivets with washers for each handle.) Slotted Nantucket Lightship Handles are ideal for nesting baskets.

Outside Nantucket Lightship Basket Handles

Attach these refined White Oak Handles to your basket with Knobs or use Copper Rivets and Wooden Ears. Handle swings past the top of the basket and gently rests on the outside of the basket. Choose from Bone or Ivory Knobs and Ears Below.

Bone Knobs

Use these beautiful knobs to attach your handles to your Nantucket Lightship Baskets. Complete set includes a pair of bone knobs, bone washers, brass washers, and brass pins.

Tapered Wooden Ears

Use these Ears to attach an Outside Nantucket Handle to your basket. The handle is pinned or riveted to the Ear after you have drilled a hole in the ear and in the handle. Ear pictured at left. Sold as a set of 2.

Brass Ears

The brass ears are woven into your basket and secured to the basket when the rims are pinned. (A brass pin goes through the outside rim, through the ear and is cinched on the inside rim.) A slotted handle is attached to the ears by drilling holes in the handle and then inserting rivets or pins through the handle and the ears. Ear pictured at left. Sold as a set of 2.

Nantucket Lightship Side Handles

Hand carved from White Oak, these handles are perfect for the 10" Nantucket Lightship Tray (shown below with Small Nantucket Side Handles). Use these handles on your finest baskets. Sold individually.

Brass Pins and Brass Washers

Use the 18 or 20 ga. Pins for your Nantucket rims. Fasten handles to your Nantucket Baskets with 14 or 17 Ga. pins and washers. Pins are easily cut to desired length with wire cutters; sold in 1/2 oz. packages. Washers sold 12/package.

Copper Rivets and Washers

Great for attaching Nantucket Handles to Brass Ears or to Wooden Ears. Rivets are 3/4" long with 1/8" diameter shaft. Two washers / Rivet.
