February 28-29, 2020
02/28/2020 - 02/29/2020
Join us for two days of weaving the Farewell Virginia Basket. This workshop is for weavers of all levels. You’ll create a basket with a wooden base, rattan material (natural and dyed) and two handcrafted white oak swing handles made in Allen County, Kentucky. Your basket will stand 13” tall; it’s a strong basket that’s perfect for carrying loads of materials and treasures, taking to the grocery or storing things at home. Register today as the class size is limited.
Note: We’ve named the basket ‘Farewell Virginia’ to celebrate Virginia Siegel, former Folklife Specialist at the Kentucky Folklife Program, as she continues her professional journey in Arkansas. Thanks, Virginia, for your dedication and contributions to honor and document Kentucky’s people and culture.
