Thank you for your patience
Join us for a day of weaving the Farewell Virginia Basket at Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library in Glasgow, Kentucky. This workshop is for weavers of all levels. You’ll create a basket with a wooden base, rattan material (natural and dyed) and two handcrafted white oak swing handles made in Allen County, Kentucky. Your basket will stand 13” tall; it’s a strong basket that’s perfect for carrying loads of materials and treasures, taking to the grocery or storing things at home.
Register today as the class size is limited. See photo above showing two of the options for using dyed reed in your basket. Various colors of dyed reed will be available for you to choose from on the day of class.
Note: We’ve named the basket ‘Farewell Virginia’ to celebrate Virginia Siegel, former Folklife Specialist at the Kentucky Folklife Program, as she continues her professional journey in Arkansas. We thank Virginia for her dedication and contributions to honor and document Kentucky’s people and culture.
