Rooted in Willow Bark

Rooted in the foundations of basketry are fundamental techniques with soft fibers.  We’ll engage two of these, twining and running twill weave, to freehand shape and form a willow bark basket.   This lovely naturals project is excellent learning for all levels and a pleasure to weave in soft supple willow barks.  Finish your piece with a special root rim; imagine your original on the dining table, fresh flowers greeting the day!  Materials are spruce root for the rim along with hand prepared willow barks—primarily 1/4” stakes and weavers that have been expertly harvested, prepared and precut.

Please bring to class:  good pair of cutting scissors, tape measure, old towel, spray bottle, microclips, and optional—small clean jar from your kitchen to weave around.

Class Time:  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Size: varies; approximately 6” high x 4” wide.

One-Day Class Fee*:  $225.00  -  March 8, 2019
