Place the eye on top of the last row with the loop of the eye centered over the middle stake of your basket. Lock the eye in place by catching the straight legs of the eye under the tuck-over on both sides of the eye loop. See Fig. 7.

NOTE: Plan ahead. You may have to add or subtract one row in order for the tuck-over to catch the eye at the appropriate stake. If you are using two handles on the same basket, position the eyes so they look appropriate and where the tuck-overs will catch the legs of the eyes.

Attach the wire handle to the eyes by bending and closing the ends of the handle with pliers. See Fig. 14.
